FAQs

The device supports use with dimmable LED, dimmable CFL, incandescent and halogen bulbs, and can also be used for ELV (Electronic Low Voltage) loads. Please use LED and CFL bulbs marked with DIMMABLE on the package.

The device supports both neutral and no-neutral wiring, so you can choose the setup based on your home's existing wiring.
During pairing mode, a rapidly flashing green indicator means the device is using the Thread protocol, while a rapidly flashing yellow indicator means it's using the Zigbee protocol.
Incandescent lamp or halogen lamp ≤ 360W, dimmable LED or dimmable CFL ≤ 240W, ELV ≤ 240W.
Some LED bulbs are more voltage-sensitive than others and require higher voltage to turn on. To address this issue, you can optimize their brightness performance by adjusting the minimum brightness level.
If the device’s on/off transition time is enabled, the light will fade in and out gradually instead of switching on or off instantly like a standard switch.
Button Operation: Click the ON/OFF button 5 times to enter phase selection mode. After entering this mode, it will slowly flash yellow three times, then red indicates the current mode is leading edge dimming, green indicates trailing edge dimming. Click the ON/OFF button to switch between modes. After setting, long press ON/OFF to save and exit. It will automatically exit after timeout, with a timeout duration of 1min APP Operation: Under Zigbee protocol, it can be set through the Aqara Home settings page.
Incandescent lights, halogen lights, dimmable LEDs, and dimmable CFLs support both leading edge or trailing edge dimming. You can choose the phase-cutting method with better dimming effect based on the actual performance of the fixture. ELV (Electronic Low Voltage) loads only support trailing edge dimming, while Triac ELV uses leading edge dimming. Some LED fixtures may achieve a wider dimming range with trailing edge dimming.

Button Operation: (requires the latest firmware update)

  1. Double-press the On/Off button, then single-press the Brightness – button to enter the minimum brightness adjustment mode.
  2. Adjust the brightness through double-pressing, single-pressing, or long-pressing to find the ideal minimum brightness.
  3. Single-press the On/Off button to save the setting, double-press the On/Off button to cancel saving. App Operation: Under the Zigbee protocol, it can be set through the Aqara Home device settings page.
Button Operation: (requires the latest firmware update) Double-press the On/Off button, then single-press the Brightness + button to enter maximum brightness adjustment mode. Adjust the brightness through double-pressing, single-pressing, or long-pressing to find the ideal maximum brightness. Single-press the On/Off button to save the setting, double-press the On/Off button to cancel saving. APP Operation: Under the Zigbee protocol, it can be set through the Aqara Home device settings page.
If the setting is too low, flickering and buzzing may occur; if the bulb is operated close to its minimum threshold, its life may be shortened. At the same time, some lights have poor dimming effect at low brightness and need to manually increase their minimum threshold.
Prevents low-power light fixtures from experiencing obvious flickering or even failing to work normally when at maximum brightness due to insufficient power supply to the controller or light.
If abnormalities occur, try adjusting the bulb's minimum and maximum brightness, and try switching between leading and trailing edge modes to optimize the bulb's performance. It is recommended to use relatively high-power dimmable bulbs in neutral wire mode.
When connecting to this type of lamp, you can only control the ON/OFF button, but can not adjust the brightness of the lamp.
  1. Install the Aqara Home app and enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  2. Restore the device to factory settings (press the ON/OFF button 10 times in succession) to enter the network pairing mode (when a device is added for the first time), and the indicator light flashes slowly.
  3. In the Aqara Home app, click "Add Accessory", scan the Matter code on the button, select Zigbee on the "Switch Protocol" page, and follow the app instructions to complete this process.
  1. Install the Aqara Home app and enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  2. Restore the device to factory settings (press the ON/OFF button 10 times), and then enter the network pairing mode.
  3. In the Aqara Home app, click "Add Accessory", hold your phone close to the device, and Dimmer Switch H2 US will be displayed on the top left of the app. Click the icon, select Thread on the "Switch Protocol" page, and follow the app instructions to complete.
Press the ON/OFF button 10 times in succession until the green indicator light starts flashing, indicating that the device has entered the network pairing mode.
Within 3 seconds after a double-press, press and hold the On/Off button. The indicator will flash rapidly to confirm a successful reset. Removing the device has the same effect as a reset.
Resetting settings only clears the device network pairing information, while other configurations are retained. Restoring factory settings will clear the network information and pairing information and restore the device to its factory status.
Product size: 70.2×44.0×30.8mm (2.76×1.73×1.21in). Recommended electrical box: over 75×50.8×54mm (3×2×2.1in).
The indicator light can be customized in the Aqara Home app. By default, it turns on when the light is on and turns off when the light is off. It’s not recommended to change this setting in no-neutral mode. Not supported on third-party Matter platforms.
The default time is 500ms, and it supports settings in the range of 0-10.5s.
You can view the current device protocol through the device page > "..." in the upper right corner > "Communication Protocol" in General Settings.
The minimum load is 4W in Aqara Home and 9W in the third-party Matter platform.

Add Device in a Specific Matter Ecosystem (Thread Mode) To use devices (Thread mode) within a specific Matter ecosystem, you'll need that ecosystem's Matter controller and Thread border router:

  1. 1) Press the ON/OFF button twice quickly, then press and hold it for 5 seconds until the green indicator begins flashing, indicating the device has entered network pairing mode.
  2. 2) Open a Matter-compatible app, scan the Matter code provided in the manual or printed on the product, or manually enter the setup code to add the device to the app.
  3. 3) Follow the app’s instructions to complete the setup. Add device in Aqara Home (Thread Mode) To use devices (Thread mode) in Aqara Home, you'll need an Aqara Hub with border router capabilities (e.g., Hub M3):
    1) Press the ON/OFF button twice quickly, then press and hold it for 5 seconds until the green indicator starts flashing, indicating the device has entered network pairing mode.
    2) In the Aqara Home app, tap "Add Accessory," select Dimmer Switch H2 US, scan the Matter code provided in the manual or printed on the product, or manually enter the setup code to add the device, and select Thread on the "Switch Protocol" page.
    3) Follow the app’s instructions to complete the setup. Add device in Aqara Home (Zigbee Mode) To use devices (Zigbee mode) in Aqara Home, you'll need an Aqara Zigbee Hub:
    1) Press the ON/OFF button twice quickly, then press and hold it for 5 seconds until the green indicator starts flashing, indicating the device has entered network pairing mode.
    2) In the Aqara Home app, tap "Add Accessory," hold your phone close to the device, and Dimmer Switch H2 US will appear in the upper-left corner of the app. Tap the icon and select Zigbee on the "Switch Protocol" page.
    3) Follow the app’s instructions to complete the setup.

When watt-compatible smart lights are physically wired to this dimmer switch, they will only support on/off control, and the buttons cannot be used to adjust brightness. When no lights are hardwired to this dimmer switch (operating as a wireless controller):

  1. Aqara smart lights' parameters (e.g., brightness, color temperature) can be adjusted wirelessly via button automations.
  2. For third-party smart lights, wireless switch automations can be used if the platform supports it.

Matter version firmware 1.0.6.0 or above supports local button operation for maximum brightness adjustment

  1. For Aqara Home users, please ensure the firmware has been updated to the latest version via OTA.
  2. For some third-party Matter ecosystem users (such as Apple, Samsung, HomeAssistant), you can upgrade through DCL via the App. Other users need to connect to Aqara Home for OTA upgrade.
